Blog #4: Riley Roth
The grade level I chose is Kindergarten. The standard I chose addresses teaching students how to produce writings and exploring new digital tools. I feel that I am working towards mastering this skill set. I am able to produce writing but am still unfamiliar with some digital tools.
The resource I chose was “Parts with Purpose: Examining the Parts of a Book.” This resource works for kindergarten language arts. This resource goes over fiction and nonfiction, definitions of author, illustrator, front covers, titles, back covers, title page and publishers. I would use this resource for a classroom of kindergarteners. The parts of the book are important to know. We are always surrounded by books whether it is a physical copy or online. This is an essential skill to have from an early age.
As a teacher, it is important to be a proficient internet searcher. You want to make sure you are sharing accurate information. Moving forward, I will use Google's “advanced search.” I will use this because this allows me to use less words and still get the results I want. I will be able to get the results I want faster. There is not an internet searching skill I currently use, but I would like to learn more!
